Elk Hunt

Last weekend Jared went with his bro-in-law down south for his cow elk hunt. While they were hunting they came across a bull elk that had been dead for about a week. It looked like it had been poached so they ended up finding a DWR officer and they helped him bring the elk down the mountain. (Hence the picture of Jared with the antlers, carrying it down the mountain.) When they got to the officer's truck they noticed that he had a cow elk in the back of his truck and he donated it to them. Jared brought it home for Stratton to see, he was very excited until he got up close. It was dark and so he looks a little scared. This is the the third big game animal that Stratton has pictures with and he is only One and a half.

Fall Update

Things have been pretty slow at our house. We thought that Stratton might have had the Swine flu a couple weeks ago but it turns out it was just Croup and teething. He is teething again this weekend and now I am starting to feel a bit of a cold coming on. Even though I am now in my 3rd trimester, I am still feeling pretty sick. This little boy has been so different that Stratton thus far. I should totally not be sick anymore! Anyway, I am grateful that he is healthy even if it means me being sick. We are hoping to have our health back for Thanksgiving in a few days. In a way it has been nice not to go anywhere since I am getting to that point of very low energy in the pregnancy. Jared has been working really hard and long hours lately and Stratton even though sick, continues to get into everything! I knew it would happen with boys but I didn't think it would happen this early. I found holes in my walls, and he climbs on everything. He is trying so hard to communicate with his words now. He says "up" and "in" for down and out. He is so big and I can't believe he is almost a year and a half old. He is starting to copy words that he hears, so we have to be careful. As much trouble as he is, he is a sweetheart and I love him. It is hard to not laugh when he is being naughty.

Late Halloween Pictures

As you can see Stratton was a monkey! He wasn't so fond of his costume until he noticed people were giving him candy. It was really fun to watch him run around.

Deer Season

This last weekend Stratton and I got to kind of tag-along on our friend Phil's deer hunt. (There was a cabin we got to stay in. Otherwise wouldn't have gone.)Jared has been elk hunting this year but didn't have a deer tag so he took Phil, and he got his first buck. Way to go uncle Phil! Stratton was thrilled, as you can see. This kid has two pictures with deer and he is only 1! Not even able to really hunt yet, but he thinks that he does. Stratton was decked out in his own camo gear that Bob gave him for his b-day.
The "NUN", (Gun) is already a big hit with Stratton, just like his daddy.

Pumpkin Patch

Before we went to Texas, Stratton and I went with Janalee and Zoe to the Pumpkin Patch in Springville, like we do every year. Stratton knows what a pumpkin is this year so he was amazed to see a whole field of them!

This is the "dirty look" I get a couple times a day now. ;)

Galveston Beach

While we were in Texas we went to Galveston where we use to spend our summers in our beach house. Unfortuantly the beach house was washed away in the last hurricane but it was still fun to come back. Stratton has never been to the beach before and at first didn't not like the water. By the time it was time to go he was making a mad dash for the ocean, becoming braver. He ate sand and then threw it up, chased seagulls, played with shells and found Jellyfish.

Bopie's Funeral

I didn't take a lot of pictures on my camera of the funeral and viewing since I was busy chasing around Stratton. Luckily my dad has more.

Stratton's first airplane ride was interesting but he loved to see everything. (I wouldn't recommend flying while pregnant and with a 1 year old. )

My grandpa, (we call him Bopie), passed away on Saturday October 17th. He was amazing! He lived such a wonderful, long and happy life. He was suffering from complications of cancer and so it was a good thing that he was no longer in pain. My grandmother had died almost eleven years ago and so he was very anxious to be with her again. Stratton and I flew to Houston, Texas where my family is from for the funeral. It was amazing to see how many people he influenced for the better in his life and I can only hope to do the same. The funeral was uplifting, and talked of his love for family and the gospel. Of course those of you who knew him, we heard tons of funny stories. Humor was a big part of his life. Jared had to work so he couldn't come with us but I am truly blessed for being able to attend and see family in Texas.
